Our contract allows us to determine instruction appropriate for our students. Under our contract, if a D11 school board were to approve a curriculum that is not approved by the state board or approve a curriculum that you, as an educator, determines does not meet the Colorado State Standards, you can teach what you need to meet those standards without fear of reprimand or retaliation. You do not have to look very far in the Pikes Peak region to find examples of teachers being punished, even fired, for teaching lessons, and using resources they determined to be appropriate in their classroom. ...
