President's Perspective

As The School Year Winds Down

With the year drawing quickly to a close, your CSEA office finds itself in a whirlwind of activity.

In May we finalized bargaining, held our Ratification Meeting, our last Association Representative meeting of the school year, and two CEA Board of Directors meetings.  We honored our retiring members at a Retiree Reception and our volunteers at our Annual Volunteer Banquet.  We prepared to send your elected representatives to NCUEA and the NEA RA in Washington, D.C. in July, are selecting attendees for the CEA Summer Leadership Conference in July, and are preparing to welcome our incoming CSEA Board of Directors on July 1.  Plans for New Teacher Orientation, next fall’s AR Kickoff and a CSEA Board of Directors retreat are underway.  We are fortunate to have the time over the summer to wrap up the last school year and get ready for the next one!

In between all of these activities, we welcomed Tim and Shellene Cross’s baby girl, Rowan Shellene Cross.  On May 12, 2008, perfectly healthy and wonderful, she greeted her parents right on time and twisted them around her little finger within minutes.  Congratulations to the entire Cross family!

I hope that summer is an opportunity for all of our members to take the time necessary to refresh and renew, to enjoy family and friends, and to savor all of the beauty Colorado has to offer.  Whether you are traveling or staying home this year, painting your house or swinging in the hammock, pursuing further education or reading the latest comic books, my wish is that you find your time fulfill and rewarding.

Have a wonderful summer, enjoy, and in the meantime

See you around the campus!
